Day 1 — Mortar Removal (Repointing)
Deteriorated mortar is mechanically removed to a minimum ¾-inch depth using angle grinders with diamond blades. This creates clean, uniform joints that allow proper mortar adhesion. The process generates significant dust — our crew contains it with drop cloths and barriers.
Day 1–2 — Mortar Application
Fresh mortar of the correct composition is applied in layers, tooled to match the original profile, and allowed to cure. Repointing cannot be rushed — mortar must set between coats. A typical chimney with all four faces needing attention takes 1.5–2 days to properly complete.
Day 2 — Crown and Cap Work (if needed)
New chimney crown is formed and poured in a single continuous pour to prevent cold joints. A new stainless steel cap is installed. If flashing repair is included, this is completed on the same visit.
Day 2 — Cleanup and Walkthrough
All staging, scaffolding, drop cloths, and debris removed. We walk the completed work with you before leaving. Written warranty documentation provided on-site.
